Dr. Powers is a fellowship-trained sports medicine physician with board certifications in pediatrics and sports medicine, who serves as Program Director for the Northside Hospital Sports Medicine Fellowship.

Dr. Powers specializes in non-operative orthopedics and sports medicine, and provides diagnosis and care for sports-related injuries including sprains, fractures and tendon injuries, as well as care for concussions and sports-related illness.

With extensive experience in the Atlanta region, Dr. Joseph Powers works with athletes of various ages and skill levels, ranging from youth and students to recreational, adult, and professional athletes. He currently holds the position of team physician for Georgia State University and multiple local high schools. Dr. Powers has previously served as an assistant primary care physician for the Atlanta Falcons. He has also served as tournament physician for PGA Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club. Additionally, he is involved in coverage for rugby serving as a tournament physician for the World Tens Series Rugby Tournament and pool physician for USA Rugby.

In addition to providing patient care, Dr. Powers has served as an invited lecturer for numerous presentations and symposiums, and was featured on ESPN’s “Outside the Lines”. He has clinical interests in concussion management, treatment of conditions in pediatric athletes and musculoskeletal ultrasound.
