Background: During his residency, Dr. Nawaz was selected as chief resident and went onto faculty position in Ohio where he spent several years in medical education. Later on, he progressed to Associate Program Director and Program Director for Internal Medicine Program in Georgia. He has won several awards for teaching as a resident and faculty. He was a hospitalist in Gwinnett Health System before transitioning back into medical education in 2024.
Dr. Nawaz said the most rewarding part of his job is seeing patients improve, and his philosophy of care is, “Never forget that a patient is a person.” He prides himself on being an excellent listener and thorough physician who shows understanding, empathy and competence.
When he’s not at work, Dr. Nawaz enjoys playing basketball and tennis, traveling and spending time with his family.
