Interests: Innovative teaching methods in primary care, evidence-based medicine (EBM) and perioperative medicine.

Background: Dr. Hayes, a native of Marietta, GA, graduated from Emory University with a B.S. in Biology before heading to the Midwest to pursue medical school. Upon earning his medical degree from Saint Louis University in 2016, he returned to Georgia and entered residency training in internal medicine at Northside Hospital Gwinnett.

During residency, he was the recipient of the Peer Teacher Award and served as a chief resident during his PGY-3 year. In 2020, he was recognized as an ACP Herbert S. Waxman Chief Resident Teaching Scholar.

After completing residency, he began serving as IM Core Faculty before transitioning to an Associate Program Director role in 2023. In addition to Internal Medicine board certification, he is also certified by the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. His medical interests including primary care, evidence-based medicine (EBM) and lifestyle medicine. In his time as faculty he has won both the Lesser Faculty Teaching Award and Outstanding Ambulatory Preceptor Award.

When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family and remains involved with his church community.
