Program Director, Family Medicine Residency

A Word from the Family Medicine Residency Program Director, Amimi Osayande, MD, FAAFP

Dear Prospective Resident,

Thank you for taking the time to explore residency in Family Medicine at Northside Hospital Gwinnett. Our residency was founded in 2014, and we are proud of all of our accomplishments. Not resting on our laurels, we are looking forward to the future with great anticipation.

My most important question to you as a potential candidate for our program:

What is your passion?
Remember the essay you wrote when you applied to medical school? The one where you talked passionately about the kind of doctor you wanted to become? Where you struggled to find the words to explain to the committee how much you loved the idea of being a healer? Are you ready to take the next step in that journey?

Passion is what makes it worth the work it takes to be the best healer you can become.

Caring for the underserved. Point of Care Ultrasound. Osteopathic manipulative medicine. Rural and remote medicine. Sports medicine. Women’s health. Hospice and palliative medicine. International medicine. Health Informatics and “The business of Medicine”. Geriatrics. Full scope, broad spectrum family medicine.

Whatever your passion, we have opportunities, flexibility, and the faculty expertise to help you become the doctor you wrote that essay about. Our program takes wellness very seriously. We believe deeply that having a passion and working towards fulfilling it is the best way to achieve work-life balance. Speaking of balance, our location is the best balance of both worlds. Close enough to downtown to pop in for dinner and a show at the fabulous Fox Theatre, or catch the Atlanta Falcons or Atlanta Braves game. Maybe you need something quieter? Our park system in Gwinnett County is world class. Lake Lanier, the Chattahoochee River, the Blue Ridge Mountains are all nearby, and lots of great communities to explore with vibrant downtowns and great festivals. Are children a part of your life already? Our public school system is always ranked top, with several schools consistently in the most awarded for SAT scores and graduates attending prestigious universities. Do you have a significant other who needs employment? Our diverse economy has consistently driven growth in the region, while good housing remains affordable.

We want you to be a part of our family, and practice the medicine you are passionate about. We hope Northside can be part of this exciting phase in your life!
