Background: Dr. Patel joined the Northside family with the inception of the residency program in June 2015, and served as Associate Program Director until transitioning to Program Director and Director of Osteopathic Medicine in 2021. As Associate Program Director, he helped develop many of the initiatives that serve as the foundation of the program, including the 3+1 block schedule, simulation education, EBM curriculum, and Global Health and Social Medicine Pathway.
Prior to his time at NHG, he helped create the Human Rights Clinic (HRC) of Miami -- a clinic dedicated to evaluating and documenting human rights abuses for seekers of asylum which continues function to this day. During his residency training, Dr. Patel also served as chief resident in Med-Peds program, and then served as director of the Med-Peds residency continuity clinic at U.Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. In 2022, he was awarded the GA ACP’s Early Career Physician Award. Outside of work, Dr. Patel enjoys tennis, cooking and playing his Indian classical musical instruments- tabla and sitar.
