Welcome to the Class of 2025

Tal Greber, MD

Tal Greber was born in Haifa, Israel, and grew up in the greater Atlanta area. She graduated from Alan C. Pope High School in 2014, and received a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology from Emory University in 2018.

Following graduation, she worked at Duke University’s Department of Neurobiology as a research technician, investigating the striatal circuitry of the basal ganglia implicated in habit behaviors with the use of mouse models that exhibit OCD-like behaviors. In August 2020, Tal moved to Israel to attend the American Medical Program at Tel Aviv University Faculty of Medicine.

Following her Transitional Year at Northside Hospital Tal will pursue Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, having a particular interest in amputation and pain medicine. For fun, Tal enjoys hiking and agility training with her dog, spending time with her family, baking, and traveling.

Sahl Hakim, DO

Sahl Hakim was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and has lived in Lawrenceville, Georgia since he began grade school. He graduated from Mountain View High School in 2013 and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from the University of Georgia in 2017. After graduating, Sahl worked at the Centers for Disease Control in the Division of Viral Hepatitis. Being surrounded by leaders in the public health sector played a significant role in his decision to pursue medicine. He attended Kansas City University for medical school and now returns to Lawrenceville to complete his Transitional Year, a short commute from where he grew up.

After completion of his Transitional Year, Dr. Hakim will begin his training in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville. Outside of medicine, Sahl enjoys playing basketball, tennis, filling his tote bag with books from the Collins Hill Public Library, or you can find him going for a walk with his parents at Rock Springs Park.

Renaid Kim, MD, PhD

Renaid Kim was born in Japan and grew up in South Korea. He moved to the United States when he was 15 years old and graduated from South Forsyth High School in Cumming, GA. He received the Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA, in 2016.

Dr. Kim then joined the Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, MI, graduating with MD/PhD in 2024. His PhD work focused on development of clinical decision support system using machine learning and artificial intelligence. He is passionate about informatics, AI, and medical education.

After the transitional year at Northside Gwinnett, Renaid will start his diagnostic radiology residency at University of California-San Francisco. Renaid is thrilled to come back to the state of Georgia and join Northside Hospital to begin his postgraduate clinical training.

Christopher Mejias, MD

Chris Mejias grew up just outside of Athens, Georgia. He attended Oconee County High School, where he graduated in 2015. Chris then attended Georgia State University on a baseball scholarship before transferring and completing his Exercise and Sport Science degree at the University of Georgia. He then attended the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA, to obtain his medical degree. Following his Transitional Year, he will complete his Diagnostic Radiology residency at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. Chris has an early interest in Neuroradiology and artificial intelligence. Outside of medicine, Chris is a huge Atlanta sports fan, loves hiking and exercising, and enjoys cooking at home. He is excited to practice medicine in a community close to home at Northside.

Kevin Shrake, MD

Kevin Shrake was born in Louisville Kentucky and grew up in Duluth Georgia. He attended GACS for high school. He then received his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Clemson University in 2016. During his time here, Kevin worked on nanoceria superoxide dismutase conjugates as a potential biocompatible antioxidant. After his undergraduate education, Kevin headed to Charleston SC to begin medical school at MSUC. Following his transitional year, he will start Radiation Oncology residency at the University of Washington.

Kevin always been drawn to the outdoors, such as in activities like rock climbing and exploring the vibrant local music scene in Georgia. He looks forward to the opportunity to work and collaborate with the community that he grew up in.

Yacine Sow, MD

Yacine Sow was born in New York City, but spent her transformative years in Henry County, GA. After graduating from Dutchtown High School in Hampton, GA she attended Brown University for undergrad. She double-majored in Human Biology and Public Health, graduating with honors.

Driven by her commitment to addressing health disparities, she chose Morehouse School of Medicine for its social mission. While there, she played a pivotal role in establishing and sustaining the medical specialty service at the MSM H.E.A.L. Clinic, providing specialty care to the uninsured Atlanta community. She also led pipeline programming and community engagement activities focused on health advocacy, improving access to care, and diversifying the medical workforce.

Looking to broaden her exposure to dermatology, she pursued the Skin of Color Pre- Residency fellowship, conducting clinical research on conditions that disproportionately affect minority communities. These experiences have fueled her passion for health advocacy, clinical research, and mentorship.

Following her Transitional Year at Northside Hospital Gwinnett, she will complete her dermatology residency at University of California - San Francisco. She plans to pursue a career in academic medicine, continuing to shape the field through research and teaching. Outside of medicine, Yacine finds joy in home staging, quality time with family, and mastering HelloFresh recipes.

Rajeev Subu, MD

Rajeev Subu grew up in Kennesaw, Georgia. He attended The University of Georgia and majored in Biology and Neuroscience. Upon graduation, Rajeev spent two years at the National Institute on Drug Abuse in Baltimore, Maryland studying neurotoxicity associated with methamphetamine use. Dr. Subu completed his medical education at the Medical College of Georgia, graduating in May 2024. Following his transitional year, Dr. Subu will complete his diagnostic radiology training at Brown University in Rhode Island.

In his free time, Rajeev enjoys anything involving soccer. He is an Arsenal fan. He enjoys reading novels, gaming, cooking Middle Eastern and South Asian food, and looking for four leaf clovers. Dr. Subu is am interested in Diagnostic Radiology and hoping to subspecialize in Neuroradiology or Abdominal Imaging and play an active role in medical education. Dr. Subu chose Northside Hospital Gwinnett for its breath in clinical training.
